Getting to know the Grundkert

As a start of our urban gardening adventure, we visited the Grundkert, an urban community garden located in the 8th district. It was soooo cold!

Berta, one of the coordinators of the garden showed us around. She showed us our plot, the compost heap, the little storage house, intoduced us to the rules of the garden, told us the story of the garden and the struggle for water. This community garden had to move 4 times during the last 10 years! They moved to this location only last September. There is still so much work to do to make it look like it looked before!

After this little exposure we had a good hot coffee in the Nem Adom Fel Kávézó és Étterem, that is the first coffee house in Budapest run by people living with disabilities.
